Does letting out anger help make things better or only make them even worse? Social psychologists theorize that reciting your woes or “sea of troubles”doesn’t reduce anger. It only tends to rehearse it. As you enumerate your aches and pains, your emotional excitement builds again. This makes you as angry as you were when the enraging incident first happened.
Specialists agree that witholding anger can be bad if in divulging our feelings, stressful situation arises. On the other hand, showing our anger can also be bad if in discharging our feelings, the stressful situation wprsens. Catharsis studies indicate that more often than not, the best thing you can do when anger strikes is nothing. Just remain quiet and let your anger go and it will turn out to be an insignificant thing that will soon be forgotten. Staying quiet also allows you to cool and decide if the matter merits your attention.
